Course start	Winter semester, part-time studies possible from first semester. Exception: In combination with the subject biology from the third semester onwards.

Internship	To successfully complete the teacher training programme for secondary schools, the following must be completed (Section 15 HLbG) (opens in new tab): A work placement of at least eight weeks in a production, processing, commercial or service company. Proof of this must be provided at the latest when registering for the first state examination. The Hessian Teacher Academy (opens in new tab) in Darmstadt is responsible for recognition. The practical training consists of a basic internship and a practical semester.
Thesis	The academic thesis can be written in the subject area, subject didactics or educational sciences at the earliest after achieving 90 CP (Section 21 HLbG (opens in new tab)). The deadline for completion is 12 weeks and will not be extended for part-time studies (Section 25 para. 4 HLbGDV) (opens in new tab).
Note	The programme consists of two subjects, educational sciences, interdisciplinary studies and a practical semester, and comprises a total of 240 CP. You can choose from the following subjects: biology, german, chemistry, history, computer science, mathematics, philosophy/ethics and sports.
